How far in advance should I book my session?
Ideally, at least 4 weeks before you would like your photography session to ensure you can get a date and time to suit you. Please bear in mind that delivery time on your images can take up to 4 weeks at busy times.
How long will my session last?
Most standard sessions are approximately an hour, although for newborns this can be much longer.
Where will it be?
You can choose to have your session at my home studio, which is fully equipped with lighting and backdrops, or if you prefer, you can choose to have your session outdoors. If there is bad weather on the day of your outdoor session, you have the option to rearrange or change to a studio session.
How many people can be included in the photos?
Depending on the ages and where you choose, you can comfortably have up to 6 people in a studio shoot and of course more if it’s an outdoor session. However, if you would like a larger group, it may be possible to hire a larger, local studio but this will incur an extra charge.
Can I request specific photos to be taken (e.g. grandchildren/grandparents, solo of kids.)
Of course, if you’d like just children or just couples for example, let me know during the session. If there are specific poses you would like, please bring an example with you.
Can our pets be a part of our photos?
Please message me with the details of your pets (e.g size, how many) before you book and I can advise properly. This isn’t usually an issue for outdoor sessions especially if you are hoping to bring a dog, but we do have a dog on the premises at the studio and will need to plan accordingly.
What do we need to bring?
Please being any personal props you would like to incorporate into your session, for example for a newborn session you may want to bring a teddy. Also, if you would like outfit changes, please remember to bring those with you.
What should we do to prepare for the session?
Treat the portrait session as you would if you were going on a date! Make sure clothes are ironed, hair is tidy, make up and nails are fresh, and any other little details. It is also a good idea to consider wardrobe options beforeheand, so if there is a group of you make sure your clothing compliments each other, for example all black or all white tops, neutral colours work well too. If you’d like any help deciding on what to wear, I’d be happy to help you choose.
What comes with the packages?
The three main packages include both digital images in both colour and black and white, and complimentary prints. However, there is no discount available if you do not wish to have printed copies or only colour images.
Will these images be posted online or any social networks?
Ideally I would like to post your beautiful portraits onto social media and my blog, so that people can see my work. However, if you do not wish for this to happen with your images, please let me know in writing.
Will we have the option to use props?
I have some limited props to use as seating etc, if there is something specific you are looking to use please ask me.
How do we go about securing our session?
To book your session, you must return the signed contract and session fee must be paid. This will be sent to you after you contact me with your requirements.
The products listed on your site are different from others I’ve seen. Is there any way to get different products?
Yes of course! I have accounts with several professional image labs who all offer varying products. If there is something you would like that I don’t currently offer, please let me know and I will do my best to source it for you.
When is the best time of year to schedule my session?
If you are booking a studio shoot, then these are available all year round. Outdoor shoots are best booked between April and October, outside of this time the weather can be even more temperamental but is still possible.
What time of day is best for a portrait session?
I can offer appointments between 10am and 4pm, of if you need an evening some are available after 7.30pm. If you have young children with you, portrait sessions are best arranged in the morning or after nap time.
What happens if you’re sick or are unable to shoot the session on the scheduled day?
If I am unable to carry out your session, I have a second photographer who can take your portraits instead. If it is me specifically that you would like, then we can rearrange at no extra charge. If either of these options are not suitable for you, any money paid can be refunded and the contract cancelled.
How will we know how to pose?
I can help in posing you/your group, so there is no need to worry. If there is a certain pose you would like, it is best to practice in a mirror before you attend.
How many outfit changes can we have?
To keep on schedule, you can have up to two outfit changes.
What if my children act up on the day of the shoot and we can’t get any good photos?
Unfortunately, children can be unpredictable when it comes to posing especially if tired or hungry. If young children do not want to co-operate, then it may be reasonable to rearrange a re-shoot.
In your professional opinion, how long much time do you think is needed for the session?
Usually, an hour is plenty for a portrait session, however if you have a larger group or lots of outfit changes, it is sometimes better to allow extra time.
If you do post “sneak-peaks” online on your social network site, do you have to post mine?
If you do not want a sneak peek shared, please let me know. You have every right to keep your images private if you want to.
I prefer black and white images. Will you edit them in color and black and white?
All the images you purchase will be provided as both colour and black and white, at no additional cost.
Is there an extra fee for creative edits?
Creative edits are available at an extra charge depending on how much work will be needed, if you would like something that is outside of what I offer as standard please let me know!

I may take as many as 200 shots during a portrait session, however many of these are likely to be lighting tests or duplicates so will not make the final cut.
How many photos will I receive?

Can the products you offer be customized?

If we end up needing more time on the day of the session, can it be added on then?
If the day’s schedule has space, then yes more time may be allowed.
Do you bring an assistant with you?
